Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Europe SAS, a subsidiary of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain (“Saint-Gobain”), has completed the sale of FREEGLASS GmbH & Co. KG and FREEGLASS Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH (together “Freeglass”) to HF Opportunities GmbH (“HF Opportunities”).

Saint-Gobain is a CAC 40 listed company and global leader in light and sustainable construction, designing, manufacturing and distributing materials and services for the construction and industrial markets. Saint-Gobain is present in 76 countries with more than 160,000 employees and generated €47BN in revenue in 2023.

Freeglass is a designer of polymer smart-surface, three-dimensional exterior components and manufactures these products in its state-of-the-art Schwaikheim’s facility, close to Stuttgart, serving most of the largest automotive OEMs globally. From an initial focus on polycarbonate glazing, Freeglass has expanded to functional, value-add products notably complex pillar covers and exterior applications for top-tier automative OEMs for their vehicle fleets. Freeglass employs around 120 people and achieved revenue of close to €20M in 2023.

HF Opportunities is a newly set-up German private equity special situation investor of Hannover Finanz that specialises in SMEs in the German-speaking market managing €700 million for its investors including German insurers, financial institutions, pension funds and family offices.
