Montana Instruments Corporation (“Montana Instruments”) has been sold to Atlas Copco AB (“Atlas Copco”). Montana Instruments provides cryostat solutions to customers involved in physics research and low temperature technology solutions. The Company’s cryostats can attain temperatures down to 4 Kelvin (minus 269 Celsius or minus 425 Fahrenheit) without the use of liquid cryogens and are typically used to observe and characterize quantum physics in cold materials.
Headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, Montana Instruments had revenues of approximately $12 million in 2021. The Company will become part of the Scientific Vacuum Division within Atlas Copco’s Vacuum Technique Business Area.
Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Atlas Copco is a global industrial company with about 43,000 employees and customers in over 180 countries. Atlas Copco offers market-leading compressors, vacuum solutions, generators, pumps, power tools and assembly systems.
The acquisition allows Atlas Copco to expand its presence in the cryogenic markets and with R&D customers, and provides an additional channel into quantum technology-related markets.
