Malvern Panalytical, subsidiary of Spectris Plc (LON: SXS) (“Spectris“), has acquired the produce line for six X-ray Diffraction products from Freiberg Instruments. The acquired systems allow rapid orientation of ingots and wafers, accelerating and simplifying the preparation of semiconductor substrates before epitaxy or lithography. This enhances yield, minimizes waste and reduces costs which supports customers’ sustainability ambitions. The acquisition furthers Malvern Panalytical’s growth strategy, advancing its portfolio of market-leading analytical solutions for the semiconductor industry.

Established in 2005 as an university spin out from TU Bergakademie – The University of Resources, Freiberg Instruments is an analytical instrumentation company with products covering a broad spectrum of applications in fields and industries like Semiconductor, Microelectronics, Photovoltaic, Dosimetry, Medical Research, Luminescence Dating, X-ray diffraction and Material Research.
