Blu Wireless Technology (“BWT”), a UK developer of advanced mmWave radio networking technology, has received investment from Westermo, a business unit of Ependion AB (OMX: EDEN), a global technology group delivering digital solutions for access control, management, visualisation, and data communication across industrial applications.

BWT develops revolutionary mmWave wireless solutions for high-speed transport, primarily rail networks, providing high bandwidth and low latency connectivity from trackside to train. BWT’s mmWave technology provides Gigabit data throughput, increased security, and cost-effective deployment, by utilising the unlicensed frequency band 57 to 71 GHz. BWT solves important connectivity challenges across a range of data intensive applications and complex industries in defence, high speed transport, and mobility/V2X.

Westermo (westermo.com) provides industrial data communications solutions for demanding applications in the transport, water, and energy markets, among others. Westermo’s strategic investment in and partnership with BWT will strengthen the company’s position in the connected trains market by gaining access to groundbreaking technologies for train-to-ground communications.

EC M&A acted as the exclusive financial advisor to BWT on this transaction.
